Jambo Teresa!
Welcome to planDisney.
Alrighty, so I see that you are interested in experiences to see some of the amazing animals that call the Savannah home at
Disney’s Animal Kingdom. You have a couple of great options to choose from: the
Wild Africa Trek and the
Starlight Safari. The Wild Africa Trek will take you on a 3-hour privately guided tour to see many of the animals that call the Safi River Valley home. Our family had the opportunity to do this amazing adventure a few years ago, and we had the best time. You will traverse the grasslands, a rope bridge, and a vehicle over the Savannah, getting a unique view of the lands the amazing creatures call home. The Starlight Safari is a unique guided tour at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge that takes you through the Savannah at night in an open-sided vehicle to see these awesome animals come out and interact with their environment. The coolest part is that you will get to see all of this through a night-vision device. Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotel or other Select Hotel can begin booking one of these Enchanting Extras 60 days prior to your arrival date for the length of your stay (up to 10 days). You can check availability for and book one of these experiences using the links above.
One tip I would add to these experiences is that you definitely want to dress appropriately for them. The Wild Africa Trek is during the day, and depending on the time of year, you will want to wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to get a little dirty as you traverse the Savannah. Ours was during the fall with much cooler weather, so I wore jeans because it was early and a bit chilly even by Orlando standards. The Starlight Safari is at night, so it can be quite cool in the evenings; you might want to wear jeans and bring a light jacket.
Teresa, I hope you and your family have a magical time seeing all the amazing animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Please stop by anytime with your questions, and my fellow panelists and I will be happy to assist you.
Kwaheri,
Robert
