If there is no availability at DVC when you want to go, but availability at other Disney World hotels can you use your points there? Thank yhou

Welcome Home, Suzanne! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney--it's great to see you here again. It’s always a great time to chat about all things Disney Vacation Club. Like the Genie, you ain't never had a friend like me, and I'm here to help grant all of your vacation wishes!

One very cool Member benefit is the ability to use your Vacation Points for hotel stays at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort and the international Disney destinations! The portfolio of all Disney Resort Hotels around the world is called the Disney Collection, and DVC Members may exchange Vacation Points for Reservation Points to stay at locations in Florida, California, and beyond. We have exchanged points in the past so we could stay at the official team hotel when one of our kids was traveling for a tournament at Walt Disney World, and it’s really easy to do!

Suzanne, to see what resorts are eligible and understand how many Vacation Points are needed to stay there, this page on the DVC website is a great place to start!  Once you're ready to make an exchange, you will need to call Member Services. They will check resort availability and handle the exchange transaction. Keep in mind that any exchange includes a one-time, non-refundable fee (currently $95, subject to change).

One other option that might be helpful if you have some flexibility with your travel plans is the Last Minute Getaway section of the DVC site. Here you'll find availability for select resorts and accommodations within the next 60 days that you may be interested in. The list is updated regularly and is a really handy resource!

This information should be just what you need to book a dream Disney vacation soon, Suzanne! If our planDisney squad can help with any other questions about Disney Vacation Club and beyond, I hope you'll come see us again.

    Stay Magical!
