Hello Nimmy, I wanted to find out more about the benefits of military discounts packages for a military family verses other family packages offered by Disney?

    Hello Cible!

Welcome to planDisney and thanks for sending me a question! I want to make sure I say THANK YOU for your service to our country. I want you to know that Walt Disney World has so many ways they can provide a discounted rate for military service members and families for both tickets and Resort rooms.

Cible, did you know that military families can get Disney Military Salute Tickets at a discounted price? You can purchase these tickets at your Military Base Office and online from Shades of Green. These tickets are for eligible service members and retired members of the military.  These tickets are one price per person ages 3 and up. Any tickets bought at a base need to be activated before they are used by the military member as they will need to check their ID. You can head to any ticket sales location or Guest Relations located outside of the Parks. There is a limit of 6 tickets including the eligible military person but there is an exception for immediate family so make sure you let them know. Another ticket option is the Military Discounted Magic Your Way tickets which can be cheaper as they have an Adult ticket price (Ages 10+) and a Child ticket price (3-9). All kids under 3 are free always for any kind of Park Ticket!

Shades of Green is a Resort hotel located right on Disney World property. When you purchase from Shades of Green online these tickets already come activated but do have a shipping fee. Look at the ages of your kids and do the math as to which ticket option works for you. If you compare it to the regular Magic Your Way Standard tickets that non-military people can buy you will see that it is cheaper.

There are also discounts to stay at select Disney Resort Hotels for eligible military personnel this year! Now, the dates and locations are limited but you can stay at the same Resort as everyone else for a far less price, and it is valid for most nights till December 15, 2023. It is worth calling and finding out.

I mentioned earlier Shades of Green which may be an excellent option for your family but books up quickly.  It is an Armed Forces Recreation Center located in the magic of Walt Disney World. They have a great FAQ page with answers about their special tickets with details about their Resort. Just a bonus tip: Staying at Shades of Green provides you with the same benefits as any other Disney Resort hotel guest such as Early Theme Park Entry!

Just a reminder, anytime you end up purchasing your tickets make sure to get them linked to your My Disney Experience account and then make your Theme Park Reservations. These Reservations are a must-do at this time and are limited.

I do hope this helps and if you have any more questions please reach out! I also suggest more detailed military questions being directed to my dear friend Michelle D. who is a military spouse and buys these tickets all the time! She helped make this answer possible!
