We are going on the 5 night Bahamian cruise from Miami with 2 stops at Disney's Castaway Cay. We have planned some really cute outfits for our party of 8 so we can take fun pictures. We have Disney photo passes. Are there photo opts we can plan for?

    Ahoy Susan!

You've sailed to the right destination with this particular question because coordinating outfits and fun photos are two of my very favorite things about any Disney vacation.

I did a quick search for your itinerary and based on your travel dates, it looks like you'll be sailing on Disney Dream. My family has had the pleasure of sailing on this beauty twice before so I already know you're in for a most magical vacation. Factor in not one but TWO stops at Disney Castaway Cay and you may never want to disembark. I must admit I'm definitely a little bit jealous!

The photo ops begin before you even board the ship. Strike a pose in front of one of the themed backdrops before your family is welcome into the spectacular Atrium. Take a moment to soak up the beautiful details, especially the stunning Art Deco chandelier before snapping a photo with the Admiral Donald statue. You may even see some Character greeting opportunities so be sure to keep an eye on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App for the latest schedules. This will give you the most up-to-date information for Character meets both on the ship as well as on Castaway Cay, and also detail any backdrops you can pose in front of throughout your sailing. I've typically seen photographers located near the Atrium around dinner seatings but these times are subject to change. You'll also likely find photographers roaming the dining rooms so be prepared to say cheese when they come by your table.

When my family sets sail we always make a beeline to the pool decks to grab a few photos with the iconic red funnel and then enjoy an ice cream or a sail away cocktail before heading to our stateroom. You'll likely find endless photo opportunities on board, but I'd also recommend visiting Deck 4 for some special sunset views.

Once you've docked at Castaway Cay you'll see a few photo opportunities as you make your way to the beaches. We always stop for a photo with the Castaway Cay buoy after exiting the ship, and although I don't recall seeing a photographer there I've never had a fellow guest say no when I've asked them to snap a family photo. Next, plan for a group photo under the Castaway Cay sign which makes a beautiful frame around your ship parked in the background.

While visiting the island don't miss a stop at Mount Rustmore near the Family Beaches. These colorful character icons are a perfect backdrop for fun family photos. We make sure to pose in the same spots each time we visit, and have used this as a family growth chart of sorts. It's so fun to see how the children grow year to year. We do the same with the Olaf sand sculpture located near Summertime Freeze.

Shutters photographers often roam the shoreline along the Family Beach, so don't hesitate to ask for snapshots of your crew soaking up the sun or splashing along the shore. Some of our favorite photos have been captured in those moments. Speaking of beautiful ocean photos, you'll be able to snap your own portraits with a gorgeous backdrop at the very end of the bike trail near Serenity Bay. An hour-long bike rental is a great way to explore the island and you'll notice a few fun photo ops along the path.

As you make your way back to the ship at day's end take time to stop for a few more photos near the Boat Beach. The colorful watercraft are a nice contrast to the blue water and the stunning view of your ship in the distance. We've worked in selfie mode here but our photos are always holiday card worthy.

Sail on back with more questions! Hope to "sea" you soon!
