In my next vacation we will arrive at least at 5:30pm to Orlando. Can we still enjoy Epcot that afternoon? Or what do you recommend?

You could certainly enjoy Epcot in the afternoon. The Future World half of Epcot usually stays open until at least 7:00 p.m. (later in the peak seasons) and the World Showcase half of Epcot usually stays open until at least 9:00 p.m. (later in the peak seasons). You can check the park hours on the particular day of your visit by clicking here.

I find it very pleasant walking around the World Showcase in the evening; the lighting is very pretty. You can get a glass of wine or browse in the shops or watch the international performers at many of the countries. That being said, our family does not usually enter a park on a day that we arrive in Orlando after about 4:00. We are able to find things to do that don't involve using up a day of our tickets for only a potentially brief time in the park. For example, on our arrival day, we often schedule a character meal at one of the resorts (Chef Mickey's is a favorite for this). The character meal allows the kids to feel like their vacation has really started, but we're saving a day of our tickets.

Which ever path you choose, I'm sure you'll have a great vacation.
