We have our next trip planned to WDW for February. My husband and I have several old magic bands that we want to use for our trip. Is there any we can check them to see if the batteries are still active before we leave?

Hi there, Deborah! I am so glad you found us here at planDisney to ask your MagicBand question. I am an absolute MagicBand addict. I have more MagicBands than I could ever wear; we even have a wreath of MagicBands hanging on the wall of our home.

You can reuse an old MagicBand (or two or more) on your next trip. The official word from Walt Disney World is that the battery life of a band is expected to be about 2 years, and unfortunately there is no way to check them. However, I personally have older ones that are still going strong! So, bring your MagicBands in February! If they fail to work, you can always use the MyDisneyExperience mobile app for everything from opening your resort room door to entering the theme parks!

Should you decide that you’d like to get new MagicBands (and there are some super cute ones available right now), you can purchase them for a discount through your MyDisneyExperience once you have your resort reservation booked. You can also browse a large selection at shopDisney online. Once you are at Walt Disney World, you can also purchase a new band in many of the retail locations throughout the property.

I hope this helps with planning for your February vacation. I’m sure you will enjoy The Most Magical Celebration on Earth that will be going on during your stay. I loved hunting for the Fab 50 Character Collection gold statues that have been installed for the Anniversary on my last trip.

    Happy Traveling,
