My next ? is for Bret-You seem kindof biased against the Disney bus system. Neither me nor my boyfriend are 21 and so we cant rent a car and are relying totally on buses. We are only in the parks 5 days. Are we going to lose a lot of time on buses? Thx!

    Jessica,

Sorry if I come across too harsh against Disney transportation.  I actually think that it works fairly well in most cases, but there are just some times when I prefer to have a car or use a taxi.  At times I prefer these other options simply because in certain circumstances they can save you time, and I place a high value on time when I am on vacation with my family.

The main cases where I think a rental car or taxi can save you time include:
    - Travel between many of the resorts (especially any of the times where you are forced to first go to one of the four parks, and then catch a second bus)
    - Travel from the Downtown Disney area to any of the parks (or reverse)
    - Travel off-property (outside Disney).  This includes going on a run to the grocery store, or going to an off-property restaurant.

However, if you are mostly going to be traveling from a Disney Resort to the parks and then back to your hotel, then I think the Disney transportation system is a fantastic option.

For what it's worth, I know when I was 21 (boy that seems like a while ago, as we just celebrated our 21st Anniversary!), I would never have considered renting a car and I would have been very happy using the current Disney transportation system (and perhaps using a taxi now and then).  But now with a family with three kids, and a very demanding job (and now I have this site on top of it all!), I highly value flexibility and saving time.

I hope that makes sense.  I really appreciate the question - it was a great one!
