Hello Miranda!
Thanks for visiting planDisney with such a great question. I'm so excited to see the
new Lightning Lane Passes launch this week and ready to start working on selection strategies for my upcoming September visit. I know guests have a lot of questions but I think this revamped program will bring many wonderful benefits. Let's discuss the details we have so far.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass will replace Disney Genie+ Service on July 24, 2024. Once this system launches, guests will have the ability to review pricing, purchase, and schedule return windows for 3 eligible attractions per day for their visit. Guests staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel (or other eligible resort) can
begin planning 7 days before their check-in for their length of stay (up to 14 days). Guests staying off-site can plan for their length of admission 3 days before their ticket start date.
Disney Genie+ currently offers single park access or a Multiple Parks option for guests with
Park Hopper Option tickets. When Lightning Lane Multi Pass launches, guests will still need to select a starting park each day, but every selection will offer park hopping benefits for guests with eligible admission. Let's say you select Disney's Hollywood Studios as your park for the day. You'd schedule return times for 3 attractions there first, but would be able to select a new attraction at any of the parks, subject to availability, once you redeem one of your initial selections.
Lightning Lane Single Pass will work much like Individual Lightning Lanes purchases do today. Guests can purchase up to 2 eligible experiences per day for in-demand attractions not included in Multi Pass. I reached out to a Cast Member who confirmed that the system should recognize Park Hopper tickets and allow you to purchase Single Pass selections at two different parks, according to the same advance timing guidelines. Unlike Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections, you shouldn't have to redeem the first before scheduling a second Single Pass experience in another park, as long as you have valid Park Hopper admission linked. Keep in mind that attraction return windows are always subject to availability.
I recommend keeping an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog as the program rolls out to see if any more updates are shared. You are also welcome to come right back here and ask us for more specific guidance once we have all had a chance to see the new system in practice.
I hope this helped, Miranda. Wishing you a most magical visit this September!
Magic and memories,
Amy
