Hello! We are new to Florida (just moved here from Dallas, Texas) and we are taking our first Disney cruise Jan 2-5. What type of clothing is a must have during January in the Bahamas & Key West? Summer clothes with jeans and sweater? Thanks!

Welcome aboard, Amie and congratulations on your recent move to the beautiful sunny state of Florida! I'm pretty envious of your warm weather right now, because as I type this, I'm looking out the window at five inches of snow here in Ohio!

My family loves to escape the chilly temperatures up north during the winter and set sail in the Bahamas and Caribbean with Disney Cruise Line. In fact, we've set sail in both January and February before and have loved the warm temperatures we've experienced. Most of the time temperatures are in the mid to high 70's and low 80's in January. Of course, you'll want to check the forecast about a week before you set sail to be sure.

Summer clothes will be perfect for most of the days, but do pack some layers for those chilly nights and the breezy days at sea, especially out on deck. I like to have a pair of jeans and a light jacket, sweater or sweatshirt for each of us to be able to throw on when it gets a bit cooler. Additionally, sometimes it can be cool inside the ship in the restaurants or theatre, so having that extra layer to throw on really helps. But, do bring your swimsuits! The beaches will be beautiful and of course there is always great swimming at the pools onboard the ship. The pools on the ships are heated if the outdoor temperature falls below 75 degrees, so a nice swim is always comfortable onboard, especially for the kids who seem to be able to swim no matter the temperature!

Amie, I hope that information helps as you continue to plan for your sailing next month. Please stop back again if you come up with any other questions before you set sail. I'm happy to help!
