    Hi Teresa,

Welcome Home! I hope you enjoy your membership with Disney Vacation Club.

I have done my vacation both ways and I still look at a vacation to determine if I should take the meal plan or not. Here are some guides to help you:

Do you have children who are under 9 and qualify as a child? If so, I would definitely get the plan as it is a great value for them. Do you plan on eating at signature restaurants? If so, you are fixing your cost for the meal ahead of time. Do you always eat a dessert and/or appetizer? Again another plus for getting the meal plan.

Do you have a child who is consider an adult but will not eat adult food? This makes the meal plan expensive if they are not going to eat the offerings. Do you want to have total flexibility when and where to eat? If you are not on the plan, you have the ability to eat when and where you want. Are you a light eater or are your children grazers? Again, you have a lot of food on the plan and you do not want to waste it.

My family, regardless if we are on the meal plan or not, eat most breakfasts in the room with food from home. I pack cereal and other non-perishable foods in my suitcase and grab milk at the store. I also bring snacks from home which helps keep the food bill down. If we are with extended family, we usually eat a dinner in the room just to take a break from dining out.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
