New to DVC our home base, BLT wasn't available for our 6/5/11-6/9/11 trip. We chose Animal Kingdom instead. I'm traveling with a 4y/o,2y/o, and 1y/o and will only be going to the Magic Kingdom. Is it a really long bus ride from the resort to MK?

    Hi Evelyn,

Welcome Home! It is absolutely my favorite thing being a member of the Disney Vacation Club is that you are always home!

Really long is a relative term. It is only about a 15 to 20 minute bus ride from the Animal Kingdom Villas to the Magic Kingdom. Now where this might get long is trying to juggle a stroller, three kids and gear on a bus. I always had luck finding a seat with my princesses at that age but you never know.

If you are planning on heading back daily to swim or take a nap, you will be adding extra time on a bus that could be spent swimming or touring a park.

Here are a few options to help your stay be more enjoyable:

    1. You can place your name on the wait list for Bay Lake Tower (BLT). You request the same accomodations at Bay Lake. Up to one week before, you can be automatically switched over to Bay Lake because your request is in the system. Less than seven days, you can call daily to member services to see if a room is available. You can also try a different room size or view to get a spot for your week.

    2. You can switch to Wilderness Lodge. This is closer to the Magic Kingdom and you take a boat to Magic Kingdom which is easier than the bus for your little ones. This resort is one of my husband's favorites because it feels like the Pacific Northwest. Plus Whispering Canyon Cafe is my favorite restaurant at the Walt Disney World Resorts.

    3. Enjoy the beauty of Animal Kingdom. The closeness to the animals and the wonderful restaurants will make for a wonderful retreat from the parks.

I hope this helps keep sending your questions to Dannee and I!
