On the new 2024 Disney Dining Plan, can I swap out a dessert for an appetizer at a table service (specifically Tony's Town Square)?

    Hello Sherry!

Welcome to planDisney! Your magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation is just around the corner, so I am happy to help you with the last planning details. It's exciting to know you will be on your adventure so soon.

I am thrilled that the dining plans have returned, as I really like the ease of not having to worry about our dining budget once we are on vacation. I also find that I try more things I may not have otherwise tried or ordered without having a dining plan. With the Disney Dining Plan, Guests receive the following when redeeming a meal at brunch, lunch or dinner:

    -1 Entrée
    -1 Dessert
-1 Nonalcoholic Beverage (or Alcoholic Beverage, for Guests 21 and older)

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like restaurant locations are allowing substitutions at this time, but I would encourage you to ask your server at Tony's Town Square Restaurant, as you never know when you may be sprinkled with a bit of pixie dust. If you do indeed order a dessert, Tony's Spumoni Tart is my favorite--that dark cherry mousse is delicious, but their gelato is a lighter option and also tasty.

While you're in Magic Kingdom Park, if you choose to use your Quick Service meal, I recommend either the Lobster Roll with fries from Columbia Harbour House or the Fajita Platter at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe. Both options are not only yummy, but also an excellent value on the dining plan. For my favorite Magic Kingdom Park snacks, I usually gravitate towards the classic funnel cake from Sleepy Hollow or the Rapunzel Sundae found at Storybook Treats. The sundae is composed of a wild-berry soft serve and DOLE Whip® Lemon and topped with a berry compote and sugar flowers. It's light, fresh and full of fruity flavor.

Have a wonderful vacation, Sherry. Thank you again for stopping by and please let me know if I can offer you any other dining recommendations on your trip.

    Magical Wishes,

    Lauren
