Hiya Judith,
Welcome to planDisney. I hope you are counting down to a
Walt Disney World Resort vacation as it truly is the most magical time of the year to visit. The theme parks and
Disney Resorts are in holiday mode and there are so many wonderful things to see and do.
One of the most popular places to stay at this time of the year has to be
The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and
The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. This resort area is nestled back on hundreds of acres of trees and trails and is home to a whole host of wildlife including ducks, rabbits, and deer. It is a scenic and peaceful treasure located "just around the riverbend" from
Magic Kingdom. While this area is amazing all year long, it is especially popular during the fall and winter seasons as many Guests love to decorate their campsites and cabins.
This is especially true for Halloween. It is not uncommon for many of the Guests to roll out their best Clark Griswold impersonation in spooktacular Halloween displays. There is even a campsite decorating contest. This makes it the perfect place for morning strolls or evening golf cart trips to enjoy the decorations. And, if that was not enough, there are typically events planned the week of Halloween that include a pet costume parade and the Halloween Golf Cart parade as well as trick-or-treat at participating campsites. It is definitely an experience you will not find at any other Disney World resort, which means reservations here often fill well in advance. To help handle the extreme interest in this resort, Disney had previously advised that Guests would not be able to modify any existing reservations for the week surrounding Halloween. If changes were needed, Guests were invited to cancel their existing reservation and re-book. However, there was a possibility that a new reservation would not be available given the extreme popularity during that time of the year.
As of right now, it is my understanding that this change is only for select dates. However, if you have an upcoming reservation at the cabins or campsites, the best thing to do is speak with
Disney Resort Hotel Reservations as they will be able to offer the best options for your particular modifications. If I can help with any additional planning assistance, I hope you will stop back and
see me.
With pixie dust,
Margaret
