Welcome aboard, Jennifer! So many conveniences are available onboard Disney's ships, including optional WiFi access, so you'll have no problem staying connected while at sea.
There are a few
Internet Data Packages available. There is an additional cost for these, but hey, you're in the ocean, so it's pretty amazing to me that we can even connect there! I'll give you a money-saving tip for WiFi too. On the first day of your sailing, you'll receive the paper copy of your daily newsletter, the Personal Navigator, when you check in at the port terminal. Flip it over and look for the data offer on the back. Usually, on the first day only of the sailing, Disney offers guests the opportunity to get a free 50 MB Connect@Sea data package, one per stateroom, to use throughout the cruise, but only if you sign up that first day. I try to "unplug" when we sail, so I haven't yet purchased a full package, but always sign up on day one for that free 50 MB. That's always been enough to let me send a few emails and photos to family and friends back home, as well as surf the web a bit. Get that free package on day one, and then keep an eye on how much data you've used on the included data meter. If you're getting close to your 50 MB free limit, you can stop down to Guest Services to buy a larger data package, starting at around $19 for 100 MB.
One thing you can use on the WiFi network for free is the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. Be sure to download this to your mobile devices before you arrive at port, so you're all set to use to browse the activity schedule, menus, character greetings, maps, and use the fun texting feature with others in your cruise party to keep in touch with each other no matter which parts of the ship you're on!
Happy planning, Jennifer!
