Welcome to planDisney, Diane! The news about
Magic Key Pass sales resuming has definitely stirred up some excitement, and I’m so glad you stopped by with your question. Let’s help you unlock the magic!
If you’re a Southern California resident with an eligible address (within ZIP codes 90000–93599), you’re eligible for the Imagine Key, which is available exclusively to local residents. To make sure this option appears for you, double-check that your account address is current. You can update it in the
Disneyland app or on the
Disneyland website. If you’re also hoping to use the monthly payment option, make sure the credit card you’ll be using has a California billing address as well. Once those details are updated, head to the Disneyland website, sign in to your MyDisney account, and select “Magic Key Passes” from the Magic Key drop-down menu. From there, click “Purchase Passes,” scroll down to “Purchase Now,” and you’ll see the Imagine Key option. Complete the checkout process, and just like that, you’re officially a Magic Key holder!
Becoming part of the Magic Key family comes with plenty of perks. During Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, for example, you can pick up a special Kuzco Poison Sipper (modeled after the poison bottle from The Emperor’s New Groove) that’s exclusive to Magic Key holders. If you’re attending the Oogie Boogie Bash, you’ll also receive a commemorative button set featuring Lock, Shock, and Barrel from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, along with a sweet candy treat. And of course, don’t forget the year-round dining and merchandise discounts, which vary by Magic Key tier but always add an extra dash of pixie dust.
Speaking of Oogie Boogie Bash, this year brings even more villainous fun. Syndrome will be stirring up trouble on Pixar Pier, while Maleficent makes her dramatic return in Grizzly Peak. And Villains Grove is back, too! It’s one of my favorite parts of the evening. The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail transforms into a mesmerizing realm of swirling fog, glowing projections, and eerie soundscapes. For a smoother experience, I recommend visiting during the first parade when lines are usually shorter.
Diane, I hope this helps as you explore the possibility of joining the Magic Key family. If you have more questions, we’d love for you to stop by again at planDisney. We’re always delighted to help scare up a little extra magic for your Disney days.
Enjoy your visit,
David
