Hello, moms! How much will I need to set aside for gratuity/tips? We are sailing for 5-nights on the Disney Magic. Two adults and one child. Thanks again!!

    Welcome back, Deanna!

My family and I just love Disney's Rotational Dining. My favorite part about it is that we are assigned a service team that stays with our family for the whole cruise, meeting us in a different restaurant each night! They get to know us and our preferences and we get to know them and always have formed great friendships by the time we leave the ship. Believe me, there have been some tearful goodbyes for the kids as our servers are always so wonderful with them!

It is customary for guests to tip their servers, which can be pre-paid before you set sail or settled on the last night of your cruise with your stateroom account charge. Traditionally, gratuities are as follows and are per person (including children), per night of the sailing:

    Server: $4
    Assistant Server: $3
    Head Server: $1
    Stateroom Host: $4

So, for your family of three on a five night cruise, you'll want to budget $180 in tips. My family and I have always found that our servers (and our stateroom host) are magnificent and really go above our expectations, so we end up adding extra tips to our pre-paid gratuities for them. If you want to do this or change your gratuities for whatever reason, simply visit Guest Services and they can assist you with this.

On the final night of your cruise, you'll receive tip envelopes in your stateroom with each Cast Member's name and receipts to put in showing your pre-paid tip amount. You can give these to your servers and Stateroom Host that night or the following morning when you see them for breakfast before leaving the ship.

Have so much fun as you count down to setting sail, Deanna!
