Hello Jermaine, and welcome to planDisney!
In an effort to better manage theme park attendance, Walt Disney World Resort has introduced the
Disney Park Pass reservation system. At this time, all Guests ages 3 and up require both an
admission ticket and a Disney Park Pass theme park reservation to enter a theme park. While tickets
are sold at theme park ticket windows
when available, if Disney Park Pass reservations are "sold out" for a particular date, Guests will not be able to purchase tickets at the gate. On some of my recent visits, I noticed signs posted at parking lot entrances and at ticket windows indicating tickets were unavailable that day.
Typically, the week between Christmas and New Year's Day is one of the most popular times of the year to visit Walt Disney World. I regularly keep an eye on the
Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar, and I know theme park reservations for this week have been extremely limited or unavailable. However, in just the amount of time I spent writing this response, I refreshed the calendar and saw several parks briefly show availability on certain dates. Other Guests' plans change all the time, and it is possible that Disney Park Pass reservations might become available, so I encourage you to keep checking. One suggestion to keep in mind is adding the
Park Hopper Option to your ticket. This way, you can make a Disney Park Pass reservation for whichever theme park currently has availability, and then "hop" over to a different theme park after 2:00 pm, when park hopping hours begin (subject to availability). Disney Park Pass reservations are only required for the first park you plan to visit each day, and theme park reservation availability does not indicate park hopping availability (or lack of).
Jermaine, please let us know if you have any additional questions. We are always happy to help.
