Hey Amber! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with this
biting question. You're
bobbing along at
Walt Disney World Resort now, so let's talk about one of my dad's favorite pastimes: fishing. Whether you're out to hook bass, catfish, or sunfish, you can regale your friends back home with your fish tales!
I chatted with an angler of a Cast Member who confirmed that guests can fish on their own at two dockside locations at Walt Disney World Resort:
Disney's Port Orleans Resort—Riverside and
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. All fishing is catch-and-release at Disney, so be sure to snap lots of photos to capture the memories!
You can rent fishing gear at the Fishin' Hole at
Ol' Man Island at Disney's Port Orleans Resort—Riverside. At the campground, you can pick up supplies at the Bike Barn. You won't need a reservation to fish from the dock, but keep in mind the operating hours at each location. The Bike Barn is typically open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while the Fishin' Hole closes around 1:45 p.m. Please double-check the schedule at the location or front desk. You can rent rods and reels by the hour or day, so cast away!
If you're interested in a guided fishing excursion, you can reserve a spot on a pontoon or bass-fishing boat for a lake cruise. These fishing experiences depart from several marinas and can be booked by calling (407) 939-3474. Your guide will provide the equipment you'll need for a smooth day of sailing.
Check out all the details about
fishing opportunities at Walt Disney World so you can choose the excursion that will keep you afloat!
Amber, I hope you have a
fin-tastic time during your visit.
planDisney is glad to be
on the line to help you anytime. Hey! I think you've got a
bite!
Magic awaits,
Elaine
