Hi Dar! Welcome to planDisney. I’m happy to help you with information about using your
Magic Key with your
MagicBand+. This is actually how my wife and I prefer to enter the parks, so I completely understand the appeal of the hands-free magic. Let’s get started!
The great news is that you do not need a physical Magic Key card to enter either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure. Once your Magic Key is linked to your MagicBand+, you can use your band to scan into the parks just like you would use a ticket. It’s quick, easy, and convenient (especially if your hands are full of churros, coffee, or little ones).
If you find yourself without your MagicBand+, you can also use the
Disneyland app. Simply open the app, tap the menu icon (the three horizontal lines) in the bottom-right corner, and select “Tickets & Passes.” Your Magic Key will appear there and can be scanned right at the entrance turnstiles.
Now, let’s walk through linking your Magic Key to your MagicBand+. First, make sure your Magic Key is already linked in the Disneyland app. Once that’s confirmed, tap the menu icon again and scroll to the Account section to select “MagicBand+.” From there, tap the blue plus sign in the top-right corner to link your band. Follow the prompts to pair it to your device, and once it’s connected, you’ll see the option to assign your MagicBand+ to your Magic Key. Once assigned, you’re good to go!
After your band is linked, I recommend trying out some of its interactive features during your visit. Your MagicBand+ may light up and vibrate during select nighttime spectaculars or even react inside certain attractions. One of my favorites is the way it glows red at the end of Haunted Mansion Holiday, almost like it’s giving you a gentle reminder to “hurry back…”
If you have any additional questions as your trip gets closer, Dar, please feel free to return to planDisney. We love helping Guests discover ways to make their park days even more magical.
Enjoy your Disney day!
