Hey there, Thompson! Thank you for cruising on in with your question. We're glad you're here.
Disney Cruise Line does not require a passport on itineraries that are considered "closed loop" cruises - ones that begin and end at a US port. While passports are highly recommended, you can go without them as long as you have some other documentation with you.
In lieu of a passport, the
required documentation for guests sailing on a closed loop cruise includes an original or copy of your official birth certificate and for guests over the age of 15, a government-issued photo ID. Children ages 15 and younger are not required to provide a photo ID, however, they will need a birth certificate.
Acceptable birth certificates are not the ones provided by most hospitals. You'll need the document from the municipality where your birth was recorded. If the original isn't available, that municipality can issue a copy with a raised seal. That's the one you'll need.
Thompson, you'll want to bring your documents to the
port in Galveston when you board. Have them for each member of your traveling party.
I hope this makes planning for a fabulous Disney Cruise Line adventure a bit easier!
Anna
