Do I need park reservations if I purchased 1-day tickets with my resort stay at disneyworld? The tickets have a “valid on” date on them.

Hi Megan, and welcome to planDisney!

With so much to experience at Walt Disney World Resort, even a single day can leave you wishing for more time in the parks. But Hakuna Matata, I’d be happy to help answer your question and provide tips to make the most of your visit to the Most Magical Place On Earth.

To answer your question, I’ll make a few assumptions based on the details you shared. If you booked a one-night stay in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel through the Walt Disney World website, you likely had the option to add Theme Park Tickets, creating a vacation package. However, for a single-night resort stay, the system typically only allows you to purchase multi-day tickets (a minimum of two days). Since you mentioned purchasing a 1-day ticket, it’s likely you completed two separate transactions: one for your resort reservation and another for your park ticket.

If you purchased a 1-day ticket, you would have been prompted to choose either a 1 Park Per Day ticket, selecting the park you plan to visit, or the Park Hopper Option, which allows you to explore multiple parks. Neither of these ticket types requires a park reservation (especially the 1 Park Per Day since your selection, in essence, created a reservation). To confirm which category your ticket falls into, I recommend reviewing the Tickets that Require a Theme Park Reservation page. For added peace of mind, you can also reach out to the Existing Tickets team using the number provided on the Help Center website.

Since your time in the parks will be limited, I highly recommend taking advantage of Lightning Lane options to reduce wait times for popular attractions. The Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Lane Multi Pass will help you spend more time enjoying attractions and less time waiting in lines. They’re a fantastic way to maximize your one day in the parks!

If you’d like, please submit another question with more specifics about your tickets, and I’d be happy to provide additional guidance. Or, feel free to ask me how to structure your day for the most fun and efficiency, I’d love to help you plan your perfect Disney day!

    See you real soon!
