Welcome aboard, Russ! It sounds like you have both a Walt Disney World vacation and a Disney Dream cruise coming up soon! How exciting! I love both the Walt Disney World parks and sailing with Disney, but combining both to make a true Land and Sea adventure is so much more magical!
Disney Cruise Line does not utilize the MagicBands that you'll be using during your stay at the Walt Disney World Resort. For your cruise, each guest will receive a Key To The World Card as they check in at the port terminal. This card will serve as a stateroom key as well as a charge card to purchase anything on board. No cash needed! You'll simply swipe your Key To The World Card to make any extra purchases like specialty drinks, souvenirs, spa treatments, and more!
You may have seen pictures of kids on Disney's ships wearing what looks to be a MagicBand. Children registered in the
Oceaneer Club and Lab receive an Oceaneer Band to wear throughout the cruise. It resembles a MagicBand and works similarly, in that they simply tap their band to the reader when parents check them in and out of the clubs. These bands are free for use on the ship, but must be returned at the end of the sailing. Guests may choose to keep the Oceaneer Band as a souvenir, and if so, their stateroom account will be charged an extra $12.95.
I hope those details help as you get ready to set out on your big Disney Surf and Turf Adventure! If you haven't already, be sure to check out the
Ground Transfers between your Walt Disney World Resort, Port Canaveral, and the airport. Though there is an additional fee, it is worth every penny to let Disney take care of the details, making your transition from land to sea and back again seamless and stress-free!
Have fun planning, Russ!
