Hello Patricia!
Welcome to planDisney. I am so sorry to hear about your grandson’s elbow! As a mother of four, this family has seen its share of broken bones. At one point we were starting school for three years in a row with at least one of my sons in a cast!
How and what can be canceled depends on what you have booked and how soon you are traveling. If you booked a Walt Disney World Resort Package with a resort room and theme park tickets, many guests can cancel online, or you can contact the Walt Disney World Travel Company to cancel your package. Due to the pandemic situation,
Disney-imposed cancellation charges have been waved for cancelations made up to April 30, 2021, so I would cancel right away to take advantage of this. Usually, there is a fee for a cancellation less than 30 days in advance. Online, you can sign in to your
My Disney Experience Account and go to My Reservations, and if canceling online is an option you will see a “Cancel Reservation” link. If you cannot cancel online you will
need to call. If you booked a vacation with a third-party booking company, you will need to contact that company to inquire about the cancelation, and any fees or surcharges.
Disney Theme Park Tickets that were purchased independently of a vacation package,
are nontransferable and nonrefundable, so you would not be able to cancel just park tickets. Never fear, Patricia! The value of unused Disney Theme Park Tickets can be applied to a future visit, so you would not lose out on the value of the tickets. Hopefully, you could reschedule a visit once your grandson was well and able to travel, and he would have something to look forward to.
I hope this helps you figure out the next steps for your specific situation. Wishing your grandson a safe and swift recovery.
