Hey there, Ellie!
I'm absolutely delighted to welcome you to planDisney with this great question. Disney is deeply committed to creating a welcoming and accessible environment for all, and
Disability Access Service (DAS) is one of the many ways they help make the magic possible for everyone. It's specifically designed to support Guests who, due to a developmental disability, are unable to wait in a standard queue for an exended period of time. This service helps ensure that every Guest has the opportunity to enjoy the magic of the parks in a way that is both comfortable and inclusive.
You are absolutely correct, Guests will need to wait until they're physically in the United States before applying for DAS. The great news is that once you've completed the registration process and had a conversation with a Cast Member, any recommended accommodations will be active and ready to use as soon as you scan into your first theme park...even if it's that same day!
You can apply for DAS either through the
Walt Disney World website or by using the
My Disney Experience mobile app. One important detail to keep in mind is that the Guest requesting DAS must be present during the live video chat in order to complete the process.
Ellie, I hope this information brings you peace of mind as you continue your planning journey. If you have any additional questions along the way, please visit us again at planDisney...we're always happy to help!
Magic Awaits!
