Hi - I need to make an ADR at DS so we can eat before Fantasmic. Which restaurant do you recommend. We want decent food but also want our DDS 2, 4, and 6 to have fun.

There are five table service restaurants that serve dinner at Disney's Hollywood Studios: Sci-Fi Dine In, Hollywood & Vine, 50's Prime Time Diner, Mama Melrose, and the Brown Derby. Let me tell you about them:

    - Brown Derby - Excellent gourmet food. The best at DHS. Wonderful for adults and older children. Younger kids are welcome, but they might be bored.

    - Hollywood & Vine - The character meals here earlier in the day are fun for little ones, but in the evening this is just a standard buffet. The food is fine, but nothing super special.

    - Mama Melrose - a typical Italian restaurant.

    - Sci-Fi - average-ish food but a super fun atmosphere. The tables are shaped like cars. You sit facing a giant movie screen that plays campy clips from old 1950s science fiction films. (Think pre-CGI robots that look like they're made out of spare auto parts.)

    - 50s Prime Time - Decent American comfort food. The seating area looks like a 1950s kitchen. The servers are "Mom" and "Aunt" and "Cousin". They will treat you like family, really,  - telling you to get your elbow off the table and eat your veggies. This is all in good fun and the kids usually get a big kick out of mom or dad getting "scolded."

With kids the ages of yours, I'd go for either the Sci-Fi or the Prime Time. Both are great fun. My only concern might be if your little ones have an issue with the dark. The Sci-Fi is lit like a movie theater.  Also, if they are particularly skittish about things like the (very fake looking) robots and aliens, then you might want to stick with the Prime Time.
