Ahoy, Jeanine! Thanks for cruising by planDisney with your question. I’d be happy to shed some light on your situation!
While a Disney Cruise vacation is the perfect time to relax, I completely understand that sometimes work still calls. Hopefully you can be like the Seven Dwarfs and “Whistle While You Work” during your Zoom calls.
After checking with a Disney Cruise Line specialist and reviewing the list of
prohibited items, it looks like you should be fine bringing a small, battery-operated ring light on board for your video calls. These are generally acceptable, much like small personal electronics such as hair dryers or curling irons. However, larger plug-in lighting equipment or anything that draws significant power is not permitted for safety reasons.
Here's a quick tip from experience...keep your Ring light and other important electronics in your carry-on bag instead of checking them. That way, they arrive with you at your stateroom and aren’t delayed for inspection. Once, I packed a small fan in my checked bag, and while it was ultimately approved, my suitcase arrived much later than the rest. Since then, I’ve always carried on my must-have items, and it’s made the boarding process much smoother.
Jeanine, I hope you’re able to take plenty of breaks from your calls to enjoy everything your
Halloween on the High Seas cruise has to offer. Check your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App for a list of all the seasonal activities, and don't miss the Lighting of the Pumpkin Tree in the Grand Hall on the first night; it’s sure to be one of your favorite moments of the voyage!
Sea ya real soon,
Eean
