Ho, ho, ho, Susan!
Welcome to planDisney! I’m happy to answer your very merry question about one of my favorite
Walt Disney World Resort events all year long. The
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays – Candlelight Processional is a beautiful tradition like none other. Susan, did you know that the Candlelight Procession began at Disneyland Resort in the days of Walt Disney himself? The tradition began at Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park in 1971 and then moved over to EPCOT in 1994.
Like you, I’m anxiously awaiting the release of the Candlelight Processional celebrity narrators and
Candlelight Processional Dining Package options this year. In the past, my family has enjoyed hearing the Christmas story read by some of our favorite stars, accompanied by the beautiful choir and orchestra. Thinking about it now makes me want to break out some of the
Christmas decorations I’ve purchased on previous visits to the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays right now!
Susan, I encourage you to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog, which is usually the first to announce the celebrity narrators. I regularly check the Walt Disney World website for
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays news. Not to be missed, the
Holiday Kitchens menus, offer delicious cocktail options to enjoy as you stroll around the World Showcase. Based on previous years, I hope we will hear announcements about each of these merry events soon!
While we wait, you can
read more about an exciting new EPCOT nighttime spectacular, “Luminous The Symphony of Us” beginning Dec. 5, 2023! Featuring fireworks, waterworks, lasers, lighting effects and music, it is bound to be mesmerizing.
I hope this information has been helpful as you think through your plans. If you have other questions about the most wonderful time of the year at Walt Disney World,
please let me know!
Wishing you many magical memories,
Shannon
