Hi Nancy: My husband and I are taking our grandchildren, ages 10 and 7, on a Disney Cruise for Christmas. I have a fear of not knowing what all is offered and missing out on some great stuff. Can you tell me things not to miss?

    Ahoy Tamara!
Your grandchildren are so lucky to be able to experience a Disney Cruise this holiday season!  I've just gotten back from a cruise, and the ship looked extra magical with its festive holiday decor!  My children are similar ages ( 8 & 11) to your grands so my first suggestion is to pack two different colored highlighters so each one can mark the activities they don't want to miss in the daily cruise newsletter, the Personal Navigator.  You will be given the first newsletter at the cruise terminal and the rest when your stateroom is turned down for the evening.  Having the newsletter the night before will allow your crew to plan out the next day which will help you not miss out on any of the fun!  Since you will be sailing over Christmas, I do recommend stopping by Guest Services upon boarding to sign up for the Gingerbread House Making which is free, but space is limited.  Other holiday events like the Deck to Deck Holiday Party, visits with Santa, holiday story time, and more will be offered for all Guests with no sign up needed.  If you aren't sure about activities planned, you can always stop by Guest Services or ask any Cruise Staff member for more details.  When your grandchildren want to visit the youth spaces, your Personal Navigator will also have programming listed for each day.
You don't want to miss the nightly entertainment in the Walt Disney Theatre!  The Broadway-style shows are phenomenal, and the variety acts are always a lot of fun!  My kids also enjoy the game shows hosted by the cruise staff and seeing a first-run Disney movie in the Buena Vista Theatre!  Character meet and greet opportunities are planned each day and at different times and locations on the ship.  These are always listed in your newsletter so you can plan ahead to see your favorite Disney pals!
I'm out of room, Tamara!  I'll be happy to assist you further if you need more help with your cruise plans!
