Ahoy, Suzi!
Well this is amazing news! Your vacation countdown just decreased by three months, and you'll be enjoying the magic of
Disney on land and sea. I'm so excited for your crew!
You've asked a great question about using a travel agent to help you with your planning. I've gone both ways, but my personal preference is to allow an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner to assist me with my plans. I've found there are some fabulous agencies with agents who are experts in Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line vacations, which helps make my preparations a lot easier. I do have pretty high expectations when it comes to the level of service, so choosing the right person to handle my reservation is a top priority. I like an agent who responds to questions and provides quotas in a timely manner, sends out reminders about payment dates, Online Check-in information, final preparations and policy changes. I can also ask my agent to add special requests to my reservation such as our desire to sit as a family of four at dinner or that we are celebrating a momentous occasion during our cruise.
Suzi, one thing that is important to know is that Disney Cruise Line pricing will be the same if you book directly with them or through an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner. Some agencies do offer booking perks such as onboard credits and/or gift incentives. Onboard credits can be used for your gratuities, adult dining, spa treatments or anything else purchased while on your cruise. It's also important to note that ALL payments, transfer add-ons, reservation changes including cancellations or a switch in sail date need to go through your agent. But, you can be in charge of your Online Check-in including booking onboard fun and Port Adventures.
I hope I've helped with your decision, Suzi! Please let me know if you have further questions!
