Hi Nancy! We are approaching our 1st Disney Cruise and have a special needs daughter. She is non verbal and I was wondering if the crew does anything special for these kids? She is 12 years old with Down Syndrome and Autism. Thanks

    Ahoy Debra!
Welcome to the Moms Panel!  I'm excited to hear your magical voyage is just around the corner! Many special moments will be created on your sailing, and your family will be enchanted with all that Disney Cruise Line has to offer on the high seas.  The Oceaneer Club and Lab is for children from 3-12 years old, and the youth counselors do their best to include children with special needs in the youth programming. Your daughter will be welcome, but they cannot provide one-on-one attention.  My advice is to stop by the youth spaces on the first afternoon of your cruise to speak with the youth manager and counselors about your daughter's situation.  They are wonderful at advising you how they can meet her needs including which events and activities will most likely appeal to her.  There are also times in which the youth spaces are open so that parents can accompany their children to enjoy free time or planned programming.  Your Personal Navigator, the daily cruise newsletter, will be your go-to guide for all the ship's happenings including the Oceaneer Club and Lab so be sure to keep it handy!
Thanks so much for stopping by with your question, Debra.  If you need any other assistance, please let me know.
    Have a magical day!
