My name is Shelby, my husband and I were looking to book a cruise for us and out 9 kids. Do you have any options for rooms for us? It would be 2 adults and 9 kids ages, 16,15,15,12,12,10,9,6, and 3.

    Ahoy there, Shelby!

Welcome aboard planDisney! I have to say, you have assembled quite the crew! With a family that size, you’re basically your own sailing adventure waiting to happen. I can already picture the deck parties, poolside fun, and family game nights you’ll have onboard! Now, let’s dive in and see what kind of stateroom arrangements will work for your high-seas adventure.

First, let’s talk about the tricky waters. When booking a Disney cruise, each stateroom must have at least one adult, and the standard (non-concierge) staterooms on Disney ships sleep between 3 to 5 Guests depending on the category. Since you have two adults and nine kids, you’d need to book at least three staterooms—which means you’ll need one more adult to meet Disney Cruise Line’s booking requirements. Maybe a grandparent, close friend, or another family member would be interested in joining the adventure?

Now, if finding another adult isn’t an option, there is another possibility—but I’ll warn you, it’s as rare as spotting Captain Jack Sparrow himself and comes with a treasure-sized price tag. On the Wish, Treasure, and the upcoming Destiny, there are two concierge 2-Story Royal Suites with Verandahs, each sleeping up to six Guests. While booking both of these suites would accommodate your whole family, it would likely be far more budget-friendly to bring another adult and book standard staterooms instead. But hey, if you’re feeling fancy and want to sail like Disney royalty, this could be a truly storybook-worthy experience!

Another fun idea—if your oldest won’t turn 18 for a few years, you could delay your Disney cruise until then, and they could count as the additional adult needed for booking. That way, you wouldn’t have to bring another adult along, and you’d have more flexibility in reserving your staterooms. A Disney cruise birthday celebration might just be worth the wait! Imagine marking the milestone with a Mickey-shaped cake, festive stateroom decorations, and an unforgettable adventure on the high seas—now that’s a birthday worthy of a happily ever after!

I know planning a cruise for a larger family can feel like navigating Ursula’s lair, but trust me—it’s worth it! Disney Cruise Line is incredible for big families, and once you're onboard, you'll be soaking up all the magic together, from Broadway-style shows to endless ice cream at Eye Scream.

Sea ya real soon with love in the air and magic everywhere,
    Dustin
