Oh Boy, Melissa! I can't think of a better place to celebrate a birthday than Walt Disney World Resort! And it's even more magical that you happen to share a birthday with the Big Cheese himself!
As part of its 2009 "Celebration" campaign, the Disney Parks offered free admission to Guests on their birthdays. This promotion has long since ended, but there are lots of ways to make your day extra special. First of all, when you make your Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservation and Advanced Dining Reservations, be sure to tell the Cast Members that you're celebrating a birthday, and it never hurts to mention it again at check-in. I was lucky to be able to celebrate my birthday at "My Happy Place" last month, and the Cast Members at my resort made sure I had a Happy Birthday button to wear throughout my day. Although it's never guaranteed, you never know what kind of Pixie Dust may come your way! I'd also suggest stopping in the Parks for some birthday gEAR.
The Emporium and The Chapeau, both on Main Street, U.S.A. in
Magic Kingdom Park, have a selection of birthday EARs perfect for the occasion.
Now, no birthday is complete without a cake and candles! My husband arranged for a Mickey Dome Cake to be sent to my favorite restaurant,
California Grill, for dinner.
Custom cakes can be delivered to most restaurants on Walt Disney World property (as long as you have an existing dining reservation), and they can be as elaborate at as simple as you wish; just call the cake hotline at (407) 827-2253, and give them at least 72 hours notice.
If you really want to treat yourself, take a Guided Tour. You'll find them offered in all four theme parks, but my personal favorite is the
Keys to the Kingdom Tour in Magic Kingdom Park. And I can't think of a better way to cap off a perfect day than watching the
Happily Ever After Fireworks! To make it a truly unique experience, consider taking a
Specialty Fireworks Cruise or attend a
Fireworks Dessert Party.
Mickey and I wish you the best birthday ever this yEAR, Melissa!
