Curtis,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
You are exactly right! The tickets for the theme parks run independently of the access to the other non-theme park activities. Since you have 4 theme park days on your ticket, you can go to those any time during the 7-day period that they are valid. If you go to a water park on a day where you are NOT going to a theme park, you do not lose any of your theme park access.
By the way, you are allowed to go to both a theme park, and a water park, on the same day. You would be "spending" a ticket of each when you enter the respective venues. But again, that water park entry at
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park would not impact your overall theme park ticket totals.
BONUS TIP
If you would like to plus up your water park visit, I strongly recommend you consider booking either a
Beachcomber Shack or make a Typhoon Lagoon
umbrella reservation. In both cases you get a "home base" where you can keep your belongings and give your family a place to meet up. In the case of the Beachcomber shacks, you also get a nice, secluded hideaway with incredible views of the wave pool, and an area for your family to connect and relax between activities. Just call

(407) 939-7529 to make a reservation.
