I am moving to Florida May 1st and am getting an AP. My family has reservations for Animal Kingdom Lodge at the end of May. If we buy annual passes in advance can we still book lightning lanes 2 weeks in advance? Or do the APs need to be activated first?

Welcome to planDisney, Jillian! I'm so excited to hear that you'll be joining the Annual Passholder family this year. You're in for a year full of magical, memories, and spontaneous park days!

Jillian, your Annual Pass does not need to be active in order to book Lightning Lanes in advance. You will need to ensure that your Resort Hotel stay is linked to your My Disney Experience account and that you have park reservations for the days that you want to visit, but your Annual Pass does not need to be active at the time you make your Lightning Lane selections. One quick clarification to make sure you're on the right track: as a guest staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you can start booking Lightning Lane return times seven days in advance of your check-in day, which gives you a great head start on securing your favorite attractions.

Since you're a new Florida resident, make sure to check out the list of acceptable documents needed for proof of residency when purchasing your Annual Pass. Most guests can verify their residency online during the purchase process, but you may also be prompted to stop by Guest Relations with your documents when you arrive to activate your pass.

Once your pass is all set, don't forget to take advantage of those Annual Passholder perks! If you have any more questions about getting the most out of your new Annual Pass, please stop back by planDisney and we'll be happy to help.

    Have a magical day, Jillian!
