Hello Mollie,
You're going to have a great adventure at The Happiest Place on Earth. First trips are the best.
I personally love the book
Birnbaum Guides 2014 Disneyland Resort, this official 2014 guide is available for purchase on the Disney Store website and includes information about attractions, dining, hotel accommodation, and magical tips for Guests of all ages. I also recommend 101 Disneyland Tips by Cam Bowman.
You are going to Walt's original theme park so the history and magic, in and of itself, is something to take in. I recommend stopping by City Hall on Main Street U.S.A. to ask about special tours like "Walk in Walt's Disneyland Footsteps" Guided Tour.
Newly refurbished attractions and magic you won't want to miss are Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough, all of Disney California Adventure (specifically: The Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure, Radiator Springs Racers, all of Carsland, Goofy's Sky School, and California Screamin'), to name a few.
Attractions like The Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan's Flight, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Splash Mountain, and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters are slightly different than the Walt Disney World Resort and worth seeing the uniqueness in my opinion.
I hope this helps you. If you have any more questions planning your pixie-dusted trip in November, please don't hesitate to ask.
chEARs!
~ Lynette
