Mom and 9 year old son vacation the first week of Jan 2013 for seven days. Is this a very busy time? I don't think we will have enought time to visit all theme parks. Should I purchase dining plan, park tickets before leaving or go with the flow once there

    Hi Larissa,

The first few days of January will be quite busy, some of the busiest of the year, but beginning about January 3 the crowd levels will fall back down to high average. A trip January 3-10 would be great from a crowd perspective.

If you're visiting for seven days, then you certainly should be able to get to all four of Disney's theme parks. On a trip like that, many people will spend 2-3 days at the Magic Kingdom, a day at the Animal Kingdom, a day at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and 2 days at Epcot. This leaves a day for a water park or shopping at Downtown Disney.

If you're going to get the Disney Dining Plan, you have to arrange this prior to your arrival on property. The Dining Plan (and thus tickets) must be added at least three days before your trip starts. If you don't want the Dining Plan, then you can wait to get your tickets until you arrive. But in either case, you should definitely be making some dining reservations far in advance. Most WDW restaurants start reservation availability 180 days in advance. Some meals, like dining with the characters, fill up almost immediately.

We'd be happy to provide you with specific touring and dining recommendations. Just let us know what you need.
