Hi, Jesse! I am so glad you brought this question to us. I am a Speech-Language Pathologist at a skilled nursing center and one of my patients last year was a huge fan of Disney Parks. We spoke one day about her favorite rides and she mentioned how experiencing some of the attractions had changed for her over the years. I have a bit of information for you, straight from my friend who lives by Peter Pan's philosophy to never grow up!
The official word from a Cast Member I spoke with today is that cushions are not allowed on attractions due to safety concerns. I can certainly understand how this is a necessity on
thrilling attractions with restraints in place, such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. In my experience, the ride at the front of the train is very smooth as compared to the wild ride towards the back. Perhaps she could adapt this experience to other attractions where she may experience a bit of a bumpy ride.
My patient gave me a heads up last year that she was allowed to use her cushion on some attractions that were not of the thrill variety, but would have her sitting on hard surfaces for an extended period. I remember her mentioning just a couple of attractions and shows. This may not always hold true, so I suggest you speak with the Cast Members at the entrance to attractions to inquire about current policy for that attraction.
Jesse, I hope this helps you plan a pixie-dusted adventure with your Mom. I am going to attach a wonderful video featuring my friend and fellow Panelist, Anne, who has her own fabulous Mom that often travels to Walt Disney World Resort. Anne provides several great ideas in the video for making sure everyone has a
#DisneyGrandAdventure!
