Boo to you, Lillian!
I'm excited to hear about your upcoming visit and love that you and your mom will get to experience
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. I celebrated my birthday at this frightfully fun event a few years back, so I know you have plenty of magic in store next week!
In my experience, September is usually a bit less crowded at Walt Disney World Resort as summer vacations wrap up and kids head back to school. That being said, the parks are always bustling, and there's not really an "off-season" to speak of these days. I visited during the middle weeks in January earlier this year and noticed crowd levels seemed much lower then, but things can fluctuate from year to year.
Since Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a special ticket event, crowd levels are usually lower than you'd find on a typical weekend at Magic Kingdom Park. It's been a few years since I attended, but I noticed the largest crowds at the ticket tapstiles as everyone waited to enter Magic Kingdom just before 4 pm, and during specialty entertainment like
Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, and the
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular.
As you'll notice in the
Hours & Events Calendar, the parade and Hocus Pocus Spelltacular have multiple showings scheduled during the party. I find the earlier show times tend to be more crowded, as little ones are usually still awake and energized by all the complimentary trick-or-treat candy. I didn't have any trouble finding a spot to watch either performance, but if you're concerned about crowds, you might feel more comfortable during the later showings for each. I'd still recommend stopping by for the first showings to get a sense of the environment and plan to return later in the evening if you feel the crowd levels are more than you want to navigate early on. The event hours fly by in a flash, and I'd hate for you to get distracted and miss the shows altogether.
Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, the fireworks show, is only offered once during the event, but you are welcome to watch further back on Main Street, U.S.A., or off to the side of the hub where crowds might be a bit lower.
If you find you need a sensory break, the
Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover is my go-to attraction and a perfect place to sit, rest, and people-watch as you cruise above Tomorrowland. Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid is another great option as it's indoors, air-conditioned, and you'll be seated in your own clamshell vehicle with just your mom.
I hope this helped, Lillian! Please come back and see us again at planDisney with any additional questions or concerns. We're always happy to offer recommendations and support.
Magic and memories,
Amy
