Hello! My mom and I are planning to participate in the runDisney Princess 5k in February 2018. I have a few questions: Is there a pacing requirement for this race? Do you have to participate in all the races that week or can you just do one? Thanks!!!

    Hi Ruth!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is a wondEARful mother/daughter weekend and I think y'all are going to have a magical time!

For the Disney Princess 5K there is not a pacing requirement. This race is not a timed event so it's great for first timers that may be intimidated by the other race distances! This way you and your mom can take your time and stop to enjoy the characters without fear of being swept. The only thing to consider is that the parks must open in time, so while there is not an enforced pace, you cannot take an hour per mile because they must open Epcot! I know parents with little ones that have averaged 35 minutes per mile though and still been completely fine.

One great thing about runDisney runcations is that you can make it what you choose to make it! Some folks enjoy coming in and taking on the challenge of running every event available, others want to just enjoy the 5K 'Fun Run' distance and the variety is what makes the weekend so fun! You and your mom can certainly run in just the 5K and not the longer distance events. They are all separate registrations so you choose what event to partake in. Registration for Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend go on sale May 2 at noon EST. This weekend is notoriously very popular so I recommend being logged in on a computer ready to go as soon as registration opens up.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and I hope you and your mom receive the royal treatment during your visit!
