My mom is joining us for our trip in Sept. However, she booked on hotels.com, rather than through WDW. If free dining ends up being available during our stay, will she be able to add it or should I have her cancel and re-book through WDW.

Hi, Katie!  In your mom's case, she is going to have to re-book her room with the dining plan added.  She can do that through Walt Disney World or any reputable travel agent that works with Walt Disney World, although it might be best to go directly to the source.

For me, I find I'm much more comfortable knowing that I've done everything through Walt Disney World reservations directly.  From what I understand from speaking with a reservations cast member, it's not really that they "add" the package with free dining to an existing reservation, they almost have to start from scratch in booking the package.

I've got my fingers crossed that you are able to take advantage of a free dining promotion!  It makes a vacation a little more magical!
