Nancy from HI Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

My my mom, daughter, and I will be staying at Disneyland during October 8-13. I’ve managed to get reservations staying at all three resorts. I want to make sure that we get the most out of it. Any special things that tend to get overlooked?

Hello again, Nancy, and welcome back to planDisney!

Thanks for submitting your questions to us and I have to say that I thought a while before formulating this response. We don't often get Guests who will experience all three Disneyland Resort Hotels in the same stay, so consider yourself special! I've been a Guest at all three Hotels and love each of them in a different way, so I've attempted to summarize what each one means to me and what I think makes them unique in their own way.

    • History: Opened alongside Disneyland Park in 1955, the Disneyland Hotel used to be five buildings of two stories each, not much different than most roadside motels today. My, how things have changed! If anything, this Hotel represents the History of the Resort and honors it like no other. Check out the display detailing much of the Hotel's backstory and ask at the Front Desk about a Guided Walking Tour (reservations required) to learn even more about its history, founders, and the artists who brought the Hotel to life. The Frontier Tower lobby has a wonderful scale model of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad whereas the Adventure Tower Lobby displays fun mementos from Adventureland. My favorite restaurant and character meal, Goofy's Kitchen, is located at this Hotel as well! And if you can, try to grab a drink inside Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar!
    • Luxury: When I think of Luxury, I think of Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa! How can you go wrong when you have your own entrance into Disney California Adventure? Tenaya Stone Spa is wonderful and I encourage you to take some time and relax to one of their signature treatments. If the three of you are into yoga and fitness, consider an early morning Yoga Class in the Parks or a Power Walking Workout in Disney California Adventure! Also, I think many of the desserts found at GCH Craftsman Grill are overlooked.
    • Whimsy: If you like a fun and whimsical Hotel stay, then Pixar Place Hotel will fit the bill nicely! You'll feel like you're staying inside a cartoon. There are several subtle and not so subtle nods to our favorite Pixar films. This is the only place where you'll get to meet Joe Gardner from Soul and Bing Bong from Inside Out. On select nights, the fireworks soundtrack from Disneyland Park is piped in to the third floor Pool Deck so Guests can enjoy the show. This property was recently re-imagined and enjoyed its Grand Opening earlier this year. You also get an exclusive entrance into Disney California Adventure which lets you out between Seaside Souvenirs and Corndog Castle.

You can find many other Hotel Activities that are available to Guests as well. Trust me that you'll all find plenty to do over your visit. I could easily keep going and I haven't even touched the Parks!

Nancy, I hope this is a little of what you were looking for. Thanks for letting me wax nostalgic about one of my favorite places, the Disneyland Resort! As always, please feel free to write back anytime. We'd love to hear from you again and I wish you a truly magical visit to the Happiest Place on Earth! We'll see ya real soon!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
