My mom has had cancer and is now experiencing Lymphedema. August will be so hot in Disney. Do you have any advice as to how we can keep her comfortable i n the parks? Thank you all so much. Your panel is fantastic.

    Maria,

Most park guests overlook the very important need to stay both cool and hydrated. For your mom this is even more important, as it is both good for her, and should make her enjoy the trip more.

Tip 1: Alternate outdoor attractions with indoor ones

If you can't go from an outdoor attraction to an indoor, air conditioned one, then spend some time at an air conditioned store after every ride.

Tip 2: Go to your resort in the early afternoon

This is not just important for napping toddlers. For the rest of us it is part of the RELAXATION element of a vacation! It is good for the overall sanity of the trip!

Tip 3: Consider renting an ECV

Electronic Controlled Vehicles should make her visit more comfortable. Since Lymphedema often causes leg discomfort, this could both improve her comfort level, and let her feel like she is not slowing down the family's pace. Disney rents them in the park entrance, but you can also rent from an area provider for the duration of your stay.

    I hope this helps!

    Have a magical vacation!
