can we take a mobility scooter on the monorail?

Welcome to planDisney, Lynne! I’m so glad you stopped by with this question, and I’m happy to help you feel prepared for a comfortable and magical day at the Disneyland Resort.

I reached out directly to Disneyland Guest Services and spoke with a helpful Cast Member, Gil, who confirmed that mobility scooters are permitted on the Disneyland Monorail. Guests using a scooter may need to briefly navigate backward when boarding, but otherwise, the process is well supported. Inside Disneyland Park, a ramp is available to help Guests access the monorail loading area smoothly. It’s also helpful to remember that the Disneyland Monorail has two stations: one located in Tomorrowland inside Disneyland and the other in the Downtown Disney District, giving you flexible options for entering or exiting the system.

If you plan to rent a mobility scooter, rentals are available at the mobility device rental location just outside the entrances to both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park. This setup is especially convenient since you can pick up your scooter before entering the parks and return it at the same location when your day is complete. Rentals are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and availability is limited, so arriving near park opening is your best bet. Think of it as your first attraction of the day: one that helps set you up for a smooth experience ahead.

As you enjoy your time exploring the parks, I also recommend building in a few restful moments throughout the day. Disneyland is full of peaceful little corners that are perfect for slowing down and recharging. In Frontierland, the patio near Stage Door Café offers shade and a relaxing view of the Rivers of America. Over in Fantasyland, the seating area near Edelweiss Snacks is a lovely spot to listen to the gentle sounds of the Matterhorn waterfalls. And in Disney California Adventure, the benches near Grizzly River Run are surrounded by towering pines, making it feel like you’ve stepped into a tranquil national park setting.

Lynne, I hope this information helps you feel confident and comfortable as you plan your visit. If you’d like tips tailored to your pace, schedule, or interests, please don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney. We’d be delighted to continue helping you make the most of your time.

Wishing you a smooth, joyful, and comfortable Disneyland day filled with magical moments and happy memories!
