Hi Savanna! Welcome back to planDisney.
Mine is also a military family, and we love taking advantage of the great military discounts offered for Walt Disney World Resort vacations. We have a visit planned in a few months when my husband returns from his deployment, and we cannot wait to be back together at The Most Magical Place on Earth.
The
military discount on select Disney Resorts Collection hotel rooms is only available by phone at this time. Availability is limited, and the discount is not available for all room categories. You can reach a friendly Cast Member at the Disney Reservation Center by calling (407) 939-7830. Unfortunately, hold times have been longer than usual as many Guests have questions about the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort. I like to put the phone on speakerphone and multitask while I wait.
Another option to consider is working with an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner. I have done this in the past and it makes trip planning a breeze. Your travel agent will be able to make your resort hotel reservations on your behalf, and some will also make your Disney Park Pass and dining reservations. To find an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner, do an internet search and be careful to read reviews. My friend
Eean shares her tips for selecting a travel agent in this helpful answer. I want to note that if you are planning on purchasing
Military Promotional Theme Park Tickets, your travel agent will not be able to do that on your behalf; you will need to go to a base ticket office to purchase those.
Shades of Green, the resort hotel for military members located on Walt Disney World Resort property, does offer online booking. Please note, though, that Shades of Green is not a Disney resort hotel and may not offer some of the
on-site advantages of Disney Resorts Collection hotels. For example, they have their own buses, and Guests are not able to charge to their rooms at this time.
I hope this is helpful as you make your plans, Savanna. I consider the hold time on the phone an investment in our vacation because I’ve truly found some fabulous rates through this discount. If you need any help selecting from the options presented, we’re sharing our tips in our
Panel Extras. For me, it’s all about the dining options and pool at the resort hotel, but others decide based on transportation (being able to walk or take the Disney Skyliner is really convenient, especially if you have a stroller), theming, or amenities. One thing is for sure: each Disney resort hotel has its own special magic, and you are going to love your stay!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
