What is the military discount on hotels? I'm not seeing any details about percentage or amount on the Disney website. This is a make or break detail in deciding which hotel and type of room we'll be staying. Help is greatly appreciated :)

Hey there, Kaley! As a military spouse, I will say that things are a little more complicated with the Walt Disney World military resort room discount this year, so I'm happy to explain it to you.

In years past, the discounted rooms were offered at a flat rate discount, and once the rooms with the discount were sold out, there were no other options. This year, however, the discounts work on a sliding scale. If you are booking a room at a lower season with more room availability, you might get the full percentage off. As the rooms book up, however, the discount goes down. I think this spreads the discount across so more people can take advantage.

As of now, the discounts are:
    • Up to 40% off Deluxe Resorts
    • Up to 35% off Moderate Resorts and the Fort Wilderness Cabins
    • Up to 30% off Value Resorts
You really will need to call 407-939-5684 to determine what discount may be available on which rooms during the time you wish to travel. I'll have my fingers crossed for you that you are able to get the room and hotel you want.

If you are eligible and haven't considered Shades of Green, I just wanted to mention what a great resort it is. The rooms are deluxe sized rooms and the amenities are top notch. They have really good dining options over there as well.

Don't forget - eligible service members and veterans are entitled to a phenomenal military discounted ticket. The multi-day ticket, which we've come to know as the Armed Forces Salute, can be a huge money saving way to take your family to Walt Disney World

    Happy planning!
