Hi Cheryl,
October at Disney World is extra magical because of all the spooky touches throughout the theme parks. Each park has a distinct fall vibe with tricks and treats for everyone. My family is also gluten-free and I can assure you that Disney World does an amazing job of catering to gluten-free guests at all of their events and restaurants.
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is set up to support trick-or-treating for all guests! You can pick up a teal-colored treat bag for your family member with allergies that will alert cast members at treat sites throughout the park that they need something different than the typical handful of candy. At each location, they will give them a token that can be exchanged for a bag of allergy-friendly treats at the Liberty Square Ticket Office or the Chamber of Commerce on your way out at the end of the evening. Since getting tokens while everyone else is getting candy is not nearly as fun, we had my daughter grab a regular bag and a teal-colored bag so she could get candy at each location but still have something safe to eat after we left. There were several candies mixed in with the normal candy that we were able to safely eat!
Disney World is one of my favorite places to visit because they cater so well to families with gluten allergies. Throughout the theme parks and resorts, there are very clearly marked allergy-friendly options. When dining at quick-service locations or carts,
Mobile Food and Beverage Ordering will be your new best friend. After you pick a restaurant and pull up the menu to order, there will be a filter for gluten/wheat allergy-friendly menu options. You can quickly see all the options available to order and place your order right in the app. All of your food will come out separately with an allergy-friendly marker in it to indicate it was handled safely.
I have several gluten-free must-haves at Disney World! First and foremost, the gluten-free churros at
Nomad Lounge in Animal Kingdom are worth a stop every single time. At Magic Kingdom, I love
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen because almost the entire menu is naturally gluten-free including some excellent fried chicken and Brazilian cheese bread! In EPCOT, we never miss a chance to visit
Le Cellier Steakhouse for the Signature Poutine, gluten-free bread service, and a delicious steak. Most restaurants will have gluten-free bread service so make sure to ask for it when you sit down.
If you have any more gluten-free questions or want advice on navigating the theme parks with allergies, feel free to
ask me directly!
Happy Planning,
Jenna
