Boo to you, Kendra!
I'm so glad you stopped by planDisney with this question. I'm totally ready for spooky season to begin after the recent
Halfway to Halloween announcements. I've attended Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party twice and can't wait to happily haunt my way around
Magic Kingdom Park on a future visit. Let's discuss the costume guidelines so you're prepared for a frightfully fun evening.
As you know,
adults are prohibited from wearing costumes at Walt Disney World Resort most days of the year. But what's a Halloween party without some clever, cute, or even villainous looks? Luckily, the standard dress guidelines are relaxed during
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, a specially ticketed event scheduled on select dates between August 9, and October 31, 2024.
When attending this event, guests may dress as their favorite character as long as they follow some additional guidelines.
While you should be able to dress as Princess Jasmine, you cannot sign autographs or pose for pictures with other guests. You'll also want to be sure your costume is suited for a family environment. I've seen plenty of women enjoying the parks in sports bra-type tops and matching shorts even on non-party days, so I don't expect a bit of stomach will keep you away from the fun. I reached out to a Cast Member to be sure a bare midriff wasn't going to be an issue and while they agreed you likely won't have any trouble, they reminded me that the final decision will be made by Cast Members on-site.
I'd recommend ensuring your top is secure and doesn't contain any straps, ribbons, or pieces that can easily come undone or get tangled while traveling over, sideways and under on attraction vehicles. You'll also want to make sure no part of your attire drags on the ground. There's
a whole new world with a hundred thousand things to see at this year's event, and you'll want to be free to explore them all without fear of a wardrobe malfunction.
One last tip: Florida weather can be unpredictable so it never hurts to have a backup plan in place for your evening's outfit. My family wore
Encanto-themed costumes one year, but I brought bike shorts and a comfy tank top to change into from my Isabela gown as the night wore on.
Locker Rentals are available at the front of the park if you'd like to stash a change of clothes away in case you get hot, itchy, or just want a new look for photos once the sun goes down.
I hope this helps, Kendra. Please come back and see us again with additional planning questions. We're always happy to help guest have their most shining, shimmering, splendid vacation. We may not have any magic genie lamps, but remember, "You ain't never had a friend" like planDisney!
Magic and memories,
Amy
