We are going to Mexico in March 2012. My husband and I both have passports, but our daughters ages 6 and 11 do not. I was told by a friend, that they are not required for cruises. Is this true?

    Hey there Aimee!

As one of the Disney Cruise Line Specialists with the WDW Moms Panel, I'm glad you have come by to let us help you plan your upcoming voyage.

Your friend is correct about your children not being required to have passports.  Since your voyage begins and ends in a U.S. Port, birth certificates can be used in lieu of a passport.  With that being said, Disney Cruise Line strongly recommends passports for all their passengers.  If a family emergency occurs while in a foreign port of call, passports are required to fly home to the United States.

Please have a look at the Passport Information located on Disney Cruise Line's website so you can understand how having passports will better protect your family while traveling.

Thanks again for visiting the WDW Moms Panel! If you have any more questions, please stop by again!

    Bon Voyage!
