Hey there, Ian!
I'm so happy to welcome you to planDisney! Your question actually inspired me to finally move my own son over to his very own My Disney Experience account. So thank you for giving me the little push I needed! It's wild to think that our kids are ready to take the reins of their own accounts when it feels like just yesterday we were riding on Dumbo the Flying Elephant three times in a row. Time really does fly! Now, let's walk through the process together so our teens can be one step closer to planning the magic right alongside us.
Start by opening your
My Disney Experience app on your mobile device. Open the main menu (the "≡" icon at the bottom right side of the screen), scroll down to "Account" and then select "Profile," and open your "Family & Friends List" located on the top right. Tap on your teen's profile, hit "Send email," and pop in their email address. They'll receive an invitation to accept, and just like that, they'll have their
own account! It'll still be linked to your Family & Friends List for planning together, you just won't be managing it anymore.
Alternatively, you can do the same thing on the Walt Disney World website by opening your teen's profile from your
Family & Friends List, choosing "Share Planning with (your teen's name)," and adding their email.
If anything gets tricky along the way,
Disney's Guest Services or the
website's chat are always ready to lend a hand.
Just a heads up...while teens 13 years and older can manage their own My Disney Experience accounts, they won't be able to add payment information or make purchases in the app until they turn 18.
Ian, it has been wonderful guiding you through this process. I hope you found the information helpful! If you have any other questions pop up along the way, just swing back our way...we're always happy to help!
Magical Wishes,
Kami
