What is the meaning when I find the phrase, The pins of Disney's Magical Moments with game buttons are designed to interact with this attraction. Thanks.

    Hi Claudia,

I had to do a bit of research to find the answer to this one. And I'm glad I did, because Disney Magical Moments pins sure sound interesting.

The Magical Moments pins are a type of Disney trading pin that is battery driven. When you turn the pin on and wear it during a designated attraction, the pin lights up in unique ways. One of the examples I read about said that the pins glow red during the "heat lamp" portion of the Test Track ride and glow blue during the "freeze" part of test track. Sounds cool!

Now here comes the bad news: the most recent online mention I could find describing these pins was in 2003. I can't recall having seen them sold during my recent park visits, but when they are (were?) sold they were available at all the major pin sales locations.

I just took a little dig through my daughters' stash of old pins and found that we actually have one of these. It is large (for a pin) and shaped like the Hollywood Studios sorcerer's hat, with lights all over it. I think my daughter just liked the lights and didn't know about the interactivity part. I'm going to take it to the parks during my next visit and see if it still works.

If you're looking for more information, head on over to the Disney fan site mouseplanet.com and search there for an article called "Disney's Magical Moments Pin and Game." The article has a lengthy description and photos.
